Titanium dioxide solution
Titanium dioxide (chemical formula: TiO ₂), a white solid or powdery amphoteric oxide with a molecular weight of 79.87, is a white inorganic pigment that is non-toxic, has good opacity, whiteness, and brightness. It is considered to be one of the best performing white pigments in the world. Titanium dioxide has strong adhesion and is not prone to chemical changes, always remaining snow-white. Widely used in industries such as coatings, plastics, papermaking, printing inks, chemical fibers, rubber, cosmetics, etc. It has a high melting point and is also used to manufacture refractory glass, glazes, enamel, clay, high-temperature resistant experimental vessels, etc.
At the same time, titanium dioxide has a good UV shielding effect and is often added as a sunscreen to textile fibers. Ultra fine titanium dioxide powder is also added to sunscreen creams to make sunscreen cosmetics.
Titanium dioxide can be extracted by acid decomposition of rutile or obtained by decomposition of titanium tetrachloride. Titanium dioxide has stable properties and is widely used as a white pigment in paints. It has good covering ability and is similar to lead white, but does not turn black like lead white; It also has a persistence similar to zinc white. Titanium dioxide is also used as a matting agent for enamel, which can produce a bright, hard, and acid resistant enamel glaze surface.
Titanium dioxide is generally classified into rutile (A type) and rutile (R type).
